The BreakthrU hours, where the day is won or lost.
If there aren’t enough hours in the day, then make more.
The most common excuse I hear for people not maintaining their self-care is a lack of time.
The first request I always respond with is for them to take out their phone and bring up their daily usage hours. In the social media generation it has become common practice to spend so much time on our devices that it has amost become part of our daily routines. If you are able to take a step back and really be honest with yourself, do you REALLY need to spend 4-5 hours per day on your phone? Is there a quick fix quite literally staring you in the face?
I also encourage clients to commit to two seperate hours per day, allocated purely for self-care. It usually starts with waking up one hour earlier than your previous schedule. Use this hour to set up for the day. Great practice is to take a walk, meditate or even write down your plan for the day. Similarly, the evening Breakthru hour. One hour before you go to bed, try switching off your devices or anything else that will stimulate your brain, and instead clear any thoughts that are in your head, maybe even read a book.
With a Breakthru hour at either end of your day you can significantly reduce anxious feelings and start to give your loved ones a better version of yourself.
